Preparing the Lazy Susan

How-to guide

One-time prep for the lazy Susan bearing before it goes into an assembly.

Parts needed

Bearings

  • 2×

Tools needed

  • Pliers

A machine takes two of these bearings and both get the same prep. Some variants ship with four rubber feet on one face. They hold the bearing off whatever it is bolted to, so they come off first. If yours has no feet, there is nothing to do on this page.

Do this before either bearing goes in: one at the top interface, one at the bottom interface.

Remove the rubber feet

  1. Grip one foot with the pliers, close to where it meets the bearing housing.
  2. Pull straight up until it releases.
  3. Work around the housing until none are left.
The same three steps on video. Video: Basically's own YouTube channel. Who filmed it isn't recorded.

The finished result

A bearing that sits flat on a bench on both faces, with no feet on either.

Sourcing, the load rating and the 8 inch variant are on the Lazy Susan part page.
