⚠ Under heavy construction

As of July 11, 2026, Sorter V2 is not yet in a position to be built.

The documentation that exists is incomplete. Any given page may be accurate, inaccurate, present only as an example, or badly out of date. We do not yet recommend that anyone attempt to build Sorter.

Feeder

The C-channel stages that meter parts toward the distribution system.

Author Spencer

The feeder takes unsorted parts from the bulk input and, through four C-channel stages, spaces them out one at a time and carries each through the classification channel before it drops to the distribution system below. The four are C1, C2, C3 and C4, top to bottom, and C4 is the classification channel. Each channel meters parts by rotation; only after a part is imaged on C4 does the software know where it should go next.

  1. Camera lamps. The arm, light and camera that hang over a channel. One lamp arm built three times, then a feeder camera lamp each for C2 and C3 and a classification camera lamp for C4. C1 has none.
  2. C-channels. The four drive stages, each finished on the bench with its rotor in. One shared channel core built four times, then a page each for the bulk channel, the feeder channels and the classification channel.
  3. Arranging C-channels. The stands, the heights, and how the four sit together. The lamps hang on here, with the channels standing.

The finished result
